It's a great system. I hadn't shot for a while, because it's winter here for like 6 months a year, and my first range trip for the year had me feeling like Barney Fife.
24 hours after getting the CoolFire gold package, I felt more like Jerry Miculek.
One issue I have noticed is that I had to adjust the laser to get it on the same target as my irons and red dot, which is to be expected. The problem came after adjustment when one of the tiny laser screws came flying out. I [miraculously] was able to find it.
I think that maybe it would be a good idea to ship with VC-3 fastener locker (if there's nothing better for that application that I don't know about) on those screws, or at least recommend some with the purchase.
Losing those screws would be a kill-joy.

Without the Backup Support to keep my 2011 Coolfire Training barrel working. I would have not been able to make the best performance of my shooting career. I finished 3rd at the 2026 CMP Bianchi Cup. This is anext level training tool needed for all who want to become one of the best shooters in the world.
I purchased 5 set ups for smokeless range with IR and have tried 2/5 so far they work great.
These are awesome for laser dryfire, if you have a 9mm pistol you can use these to train with your laser without having to rack after each shot
Great training product. Too many other products out there that don’t make a sound or cycle the slide that tout being great for “dry-firing” practice.
This size is perfect to do at least a week of heavy dry fire training.
I truly love it and miss Thompson was the greatest help from customer service. She gave me a lot of information that I didn’t know. The whole company itself is very wonderful.
As an instructor, I’ve incorporated the CoolFire Training System into portions of my firearms training classes, and it has proven to be an excellent tool for developing trigger control, sight alignment, and target transition skills. The system allows students to safely practice realistic shooting drills, build muscle memory, and gain confidence before transitioning to the live-fire range.
What an excellent product. While not an exact replication of the 9mm recoil impulse it is very good and maybe the best tool ever created for practicing shooting while moving for sports like USPSA or 3Gun or even I suppose a real life situation. You can practice without driving to the ranch
